Traditionally the Jew or mulloway season is best during the winter months in the Maroochy River.
It started early this year with several good jewies landed already from The Cod Hole. It is best to fish for these at night and I find the last of the run out and beginning of the run in the best times.
Some like to fish at the mouth of the river with good results bi ut I feel a little safer further upstream in the deeper holes around the motor bridge . Best time of day is early morning to sunrise.
We catch our bait -herring- from our pontoon before departing and keep these alive in a bait container we made from a plastic rubbish bin .
